10 fucking years later

And people are still being cunts about 9/11. Did we cry like a bunch of bitches 10 years after pearl harbor? 10 years after the war of 1812? No, we got on with lives. We don't need to remember 9/11 because the assholes on TV do it all the time.

Kevin responds:

9 years.

You weren't around back then

level 15 cannot be solved

cool otherwise.

64 responds:

They can all be solved.

Twelve Games?

I only see six you've uploaded. Were the other six not that good?

Also as I am someone who's always wanted to learn how to make games but never had much luck with it, what can you tell me about Flixel?

GregoryWeir responds:

Some of the games haven't been put up on Newgrounds yet, and some weren't done in Flash.

Flixel's great, but it's really most useful to people who already know a decent amount of AS3. If you do, it really streamlines your coding and development. You can check it out at flixel.org.

Fuck double dash and fuck that worm boss

I've died so many times when i was trying to move carefully because of that "ability". and then it launches spawn. Is there any way to turn it off?

bitpimp responds:

DOWN WITH THE WORM BOSS! I need to adjust respawning at some point. Adding badges is what we are coding up now, so that will have to wait. You can do it man! You can do it!

Agh.

Cool game, neat concept - but I have to ask why we don't get weapons.

A lot of early sidescrolling puzzle games, such as Out of this World or Flashback, had no problem letting you use a weapon, and they were awesome. So why not this one? Seriously, too many Puzzle/Platformer type games these days deny you weapons when there's no in-universe justification for it.

EntropicOrder responds:

"I have tried beating them with sticks, shoving them off into the pits, and even jumping on their heads, but there seems to be no physical way to hurt these creatures. Their howls echo loudly in my skull, leaving me a little less willing to continue on each time. Did that shadowy man sick them on me? Are they like him? What is he even? For now I will just have to avoid them, and see if I can make my way through this strange place."

There's plenty of items and abilities we have in reality that aren't available in any game out there without in-universe justification. I think too many games try to emulate as much of reality as possible and I rather enjoy old school games where you have to play by their rules, not the other way around. That's where my inspiration is from, and in this game I wanted a somewhat casual game of exploration and puzzle solving more than straight action. I understand this isn't for everyone though, and some people just want more action.

I am planning to make a platformer with combat in it in the future though.

It must be nice to have the time to draw

Already graduated from comm art school, and the industry has practically died. Back to school with my hack ass, this time for psychology. But regarding your sketches.

Looking through your stuff, it's pretty clear to me that you have a good knowledge of the basics, body structure anatomy etc. Yet your style lacks any "hook" - there's nothing here to differentiate yourself from everyone else.

As much as I like Manga/Comic styles, there's a huge glut of artists doing it right now. And while you are good at it, I don't think you're good enough at it to stand out from the crowd with it. I'm not saying give up, i'm saying experiment with how you do art.

Sabtastic responds:

...Harsh.

Have you looked at my actual artwork on DeviantART or Newgrounds..? These are only sketches that I've thrown together while at work, if you didn't catch that. The whole reason for posting it in a flash was because I thought they were too crappy to individually post. Didn't want to spam my gallery either.

Thanks anyhow.. :c

Cool but problematic

After a couple miniutes of play, WASD stopped working for some reason. Is this because I'm using Opera? Love the slashins stuff, and like the guy before me said it really plays better with a tablet. Loved what little I saw of the 3d animations.

acrazycanadian responds:

Never used Opera so I can't say. Cool to hear people are trying tablets, I thought it might be fun like that.

Question

How do I deal with the sound import file size? I imported a small MP3 and it ballooned up to 11.3 Mb/

PlayTheGame responds:

you have to download a file compressor. look up ultimate psp converter. thats the program i use at times

I could never get the controls right either

Nor could I get my "guys" to shoot backward - so I basically forgot nost of what i know about flash.

aquaticmole responds:

you're not supposed to shoot backwards...

^_________^

ugh

Assembled the note and now there's no way to exit the screen.

Psionic3D responds:

Use the UV lamp to reveal the code...
